Wall Paintings |
|
The most striking survival of this early period are the wall paintings on the east wall of the nave. They show a very rare image of the Holy Trinity. This is the earliest known example of a wall painting showing the Holy Trinity in this way in Europe, and most likely unique to Britain. There are also circles or roundels showing prophets holding scrolls, and angels on either side of the chancel arch. To the left of the arch is a picture of people raising form their coffins on Judgment day |

Approximately 50% of the wall painting showing Jesus with his disciples is visible (the other half being covered by a layer of medieval plaster and another painting) |
